The National Rail Awards were held in London recently, with Avanti West Coast winning an award for one of its managed stations.
The Award ‘Large Station of the Year’ went to Coventry for its transformation in recent years.
Coventry was nominated along with Milton Keynes Central, London St Pancras International and Nottingham.
Members of staff from Coventry attended the ceremony to receive the award, which was acknowledged for the recent investments which proved their worth.

Investments have included the joint £600,000 to replace skylights on Platform 1 (Avanti West Coast, Network Rail and Railway Heritage Trust), which formed part of a bigger investment that saw an £82 million main building and car park.
Renovations have included the station’s tiled walls and a display space for the old steam train nameplate ‘City of Coventry’.
“I’m so proud for Coventry to win this award, and just absolutely delighted that my team have been recognised for their hard work and dedication to deliver a great experience for our customers every day.
“The station has gone through a remarkable transformation over recent years, making it a gateway to the city but also an important transport hub for the region.”
Maria McCarron, Avanti West Coast Station Manager at Coventry
