A new super-low fare option has been launched by London North Eastern Railway.
The early bird fare covers journeys from London to Leeds, providing travel for £12 or £8 with a railcard.
There is also the night owl evening £12 fare as part of a trial for those travelling from Leeds to London.
Last year’s timetable change added services and seats across the network, creating more opportunities for better-value tickets.
This new ticket option marks the cheapest fare between Leeds and London for nearly 20 years (based on LNER fares).
The fare brings train travel to the same price as coaches, but in half the time, meaning more people can travel to experience both cities.
The ticket is available Monday to Friday on the 5:40 am London King’s Cross to Leeds and the 21:10 pm Leeds to London King’s Cross.
Beryl Bikes and E-scooters are also available in Leeds to help passengers explore the city sustainably.
Further information and tickets can be found on their website.
“With our new super low fares, we’re taking on coach firms by offering a speedier alternative at an incredible price.
“Whether it’s immersing yourself in culture at Leeds Art Gallery, visiting the Trinity Centre for some retail therapy, or catching a show at one of the many brilliant venues across the city, there’s plenty to tempt Londoners to come back to Leeds again and again. So, if you’ve always thought of seeing what Leeds has to offer, now is the perfect time to do so.”

Quite unbelievable value. As these trains both call at Doncaster then hopefully at least the same fare will apply.
For those at Sheffield by way of a short trip to Doncaster this then has to deliver a better price from / to London than EMR the badge of Transport UK. And a more reliable LNER service, unlike the daily selection of cancellations and late running by EMR, including missed connections at Leicester and/or Kettering.
