The Kent and East Sussex Railway has celebrated the first graduates from their youth programme.
On Sunday 23rd August, 8 individuals were the first to graduate from the new youth programme.
Throughout the programme, those involved gained experience in railway operations and customer service, building confidence and experience across a range of skills.
The 13- to 15-year-olds attended Tenterden Town Station to be recognised for their achievement, with Cllr Jane Mills, Mayor of Tenterden, also in attendance.
Three of the eight also received an additional certificate for passing as Assistant Travelling Ticket Inspectors (ATTIs).

After this very successful year, the railway already plans to welcome a bigger group to the programme next year.
“It encourages young people to develop confidence, curiosity and a sense of belonging within their local community. It provides an insight into the many different careers and opportunities that exist not only within the heritage sector but also across transport, tourism, engineering, customer service and many other fields.
