Dovetail Games has revealed that its Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg – Ingolstadt add-on for Train Sim World 6 will be available from a week today (Thursday 13 August).

The company boasts that the add-on allows players to experience German high-speed rail “like never before”, as it offers true 300 km/h running for the first time.

Players can race between Nürnberg and Ingolstadt aboard the DB BR 403 ICE 3. Alternatively, they can take charge of the München-Nürnberg-Express.

The high-speed railway route runs for about 90 km between Nürnberg Hbf and Ingolstadt Hbf, travelling through the landscape of Bavaria with sweeping curves, steep gradients and an extensive series of tunnels.

The new route is the fastest German route in Train Sim World, and also the first to support the full 300 km/h operating speed.

The add-on offers three ways of playing the ICE, regional express and S-Bahn.

DB BR 403 ICE 3, in red-stripe livery, allows players to reach the full 300 km/h route speed. It features updated passenger information screens and better acceleration audio.

The original, non-Expert DB BR 101, in a weathered DB red livery, is paired with München-Nürnberg-Express coaches and cab car. Players drive the train as a regional express at speeds of up to 200 km/h, connecting Nürnberg, Kinding and Ingolstadt.

The add-on also includes a short section of the Nürnberg S-Bahn between Nürnberg Hbf and Feucht. Players will drive more slowly in this section and stop at stations more often before they return to the open high-speed line.

Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg – Ingolstadt offers more functionality when players enable Expert Mode. The Expert DB BR 101 is compatible additional content and is not included in Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg – Ingolstadt.

Expert Mode includes a selection of faults for the DB BR 403 ICE 3. The faults are specific to the route’s dedicated Expert functionality and are distinct from Train Sim World’s standard game-wide Train Faults.

Players can bring compatible content from their Train Sim World collection onto Schnellfahrstrecke Nürnberg – Ingolstadt. They can add timetable layers, which introduce additional traffic across the route.

Players can move quickly between locations using Fast Travel, and can connect the new route with their existing Train Sim World collection using Route Hopping.

Dovetail will be showcasing the new add-on this evening (Thursday 6 August, 18:00 BST) live on the official Train Sim World YouTube and Twitch channels.

Dovetail has recently launched other add-ons, including new Great Western branch lines and a Crewe-to-Preston route.
