Rapido has announced a new range of OO Gauge models based on 0-4-0 steam shunters produced by the Sentinel company and 0-4-0 diesel shunters built by John Fowler of Leeds.

Sentinel steam shunters

The Sentinel steam shunter range includes both pre-war and post-war body types. These were specifically designed with fast-steaming vertical boilers and designed for one-man operation in a variety of industries.

Two outlines will be available in a total of 12 different liveries, including the liveries of: LMS; British Railways; Fry’s Chocolate; British Tar Products; Greenwich Gas Works, and Tottenham and Finsbury Light, Heat, Gas, and Power Company.

All models will be available in DC with pre-installed stay-alives. The pre-war models will also be available in DCC Fitted (non-sound) versions, whilst the post-war models will be available in DCC Sound versions.

Fowler Resilient 4-wheel diesel-mechanical shunters

As well as the Sentinel shunters, a range of Fowler Resilient 4-wheel diesel-mechanical shunters are also being produced. These are narrow-gauge diesel prototypes dating from the 1930s, and ten models will be available in historically-accurate liveries, as well as liveries that match Rapido’s Sirdar and Cranmore ranges. All versions will be available in DC and DCC Fitted (non-sound) versions with pre-installed stay-alives.

Earlier this year, Rapido announced the release of a Southern Railway O Class 0-6-0 steam locomotive, with liveries from the South Eastern Railway (SER) and the South Eastern & Chatham Railway (SECR), and a Peckett & Sons Cranmore Class 0-4-0 steam locomotive in 009 Gauge.
