Llangollen and Corwen Railway is to run a special one-off edition of its Ales from Wales Real Ale Train this Saturday (15 August), with an extended stop in Corwen as requested by passengers.

For this particular event, the Railway will replace its usual extended stop at Glyndyfrdwy and Porter’s Bar with a longer visit to Corwen.

The train will depart from Llangollen at 7.00pm on Saturday, will travel through the Dee Valley and will arrive at Corwen at around 7.40pm.

The train will remain at Corwen for longer than on previous events, allowing passengers to choose between staying on the train, relaxing in the station, or exploring the town, including its historic Owain Glyndŵr Hotel.

The train will leave Corwen at 8.55pm and arrive back at Llangollen at around 9.35pm.

Prior to setting off, passengers will be entertained by live entertainment on Platform 1 from The Singing Farmer, John Hughes, who will perform a repertoire of songs telling tales of life on the farm.

Food will also be available on Platform 1.

The full programme will be:

• 5.00pm Gates open at Llangollen
• From 5.00pm The Singing Farmer performs live on Platform 1, with hearty food also being served
• 7.00pm Ales from Wales: The Corwen Special departs Llangollen
• 7.40pm Train arrives at Corwen
• 7.40-8.55pm Extended Corwen stop
• 8.55pm Train departs Corwen
• 9.35pm Train arrives back at Llangollen

Ales from Wales is one of the Llangollen and Corwen Railway’s most popular evening events. It combines Welsh real ales, live entertainment, food, heritage railway travel and the Dee Valley’s stunning scenery.

Tickets for the event are on sale at a cost £20 per person, which includes a Llangollen Railway branded souvenir cup and the passenger’s first drink.

After their free first drink, passengers will be able to buy more from a selection of Welsh real ales, or choose wines, ciders, lager and soft drinks instead.

The Railway describes the Ales from Wales events as “not just a train ride, it is an experience from the moment people arrive at the station.”

It will be running further Ales from Wales events later this year.
