With the August Bank Holiday weekend fast approaching, Network Rail is reminding passengers in the North West of England of exceptionally busy services over the 3-day weekend.
As the Premier League season enters its second week, both Liverpool and Manchester United will be playing home fixtures over the weekend.
These games will draw huge crowds at Liverpool Lime Street on Saturday and Manchester Piccadilly on Sunday.

Manchester Pride will be taking place from Friday 28th to Monday 31st August, and Creamfields music festival will be returning to Daresbury from Thursday 27th to Sunday 30th August.
With these big events taking place over the same weekend, the rail services in the north are expected to be busy throughout the weekend throughout all three days especially around the Manchester and Liverpool areas.
Extra staff will be on hand to assist passengers and make sure services run as smoothly as possible.

“It’s great to see the North West hosting so many huge events over the bank holiday weekend and we want everyone travelling by train to have the best possible journeys.
“To make your journeys as smooth and easy as possible, I’m urging travellers to following our key travel tips – plan your journey, know the time of your last train home and please respect our station staff. We will have additional staff in place to provide advice and keep people safe throughout the weekend.”
Chris Wright, Network Rail’s North West route director
