British Transport police are investigating a serious assault which occurred on the 10th July on board a London Underground service.

They are now appealing for witnesses to the assault and have provided details on the suspect and the incident.

The assault happened on a Victoria Line service between Stockwell and Vauxhall at around 11:10 am, where a man was repeatedly kicked.

The assailant has been described as in his mid- to late 20s, 6 feet tall, South Asian, and of medium build. At the time of the assault, he had a full black beard, wearing a baseball hat, a blue t-shirt, black shorts, a backpack and a sling bag.

The suspect was also accompanied by a woman.

“This appears to have been an entirely unprovoked attack on a man who was just going about his day. The injuries he sustained were so serious that he required surgery on his leg.

“There were a number of people inside the carriage at the time of the assault, some of whom thankfully intervened. If that was you or you saw what happened, please get in touch with us by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 166 of 10 July.”
