The North Yorkshire Moors Railway (NYMR) is promising an impressive line-up of locomotives for its four-day Annual Steam Gala at the end of September.

Taking place from Thursday, 24th to Sunday, 27th September, the impressive line-up will include Great Western Railway (GWR) Castle Class No. 4079 Pendennis Castle, courtesy of Didcot Railway Centre, which, from 1977 to 2000, was touring Australia.

Other visiting locomotives are London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) A4 Class No. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley, courtesy of the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust Ltd., and London & South Western Railway (L&SWR) T3 Class steam locomotive No. 563, courtesy of the Swanage Railway Trust.

Throughout the four days of the gala, there will be a full timetable of steam services through the North York Moors National Park. At Grosmont, there will be a barbecue, and refreshments will be available in the Tea Rooms, whilst at Goathland, there will be the popular Annual Beer Festival, and a wide range of railway items will be available for purchase in the Shed Shop.

To cater for visitors from Whitby, there will be a morning shuttle service from Whitby to Grosmont, and a return shuttle service from Grosmont to Whitby later in the day.

Tickets have been frozen at the same price as in 2025, with day tickets starting at £49.50 per adult, and no charge for children aged 0 to 15 years old. There are also multi-day tickets available, and there is no charge for visitors with Patron and Ambassador membership. Also available at £54.45 is the Annual Steam Gala Donation Ticket.

During September and October, No. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley and No. 4079 Pendennis Castle will also be hauling some of the Rockstar Engines services, which offer special pre-booked seat allocations.
