Following a careful review, Dapol has reluctantly announced that its planned release of OO Gauge GWR Churchward toplight coaches has been cancelled.

When the project to produce OO Gauge GWR Churchward toplight coaches was announced, there was a strong interest from modellers across the hobby, and Dapol started to accept pre-orders from its stockist network.

In Update II of Dapol’s Project Update, pre-order levels were at 23% of the sales volume needed for it to proceed.

By 30th March this year, pre-order levels had increased to 31% of the required sales volume, and to 38% by 12th May.

By 4th June, pre-orders were at 50% of the required sales volume, prompting the company to review the project and make a decision whether to proceed.

Unfortunately, that level of orders was insufficient to make the project commercially viable, and with there currently being a low demand across the model railway market, in the present economic climate Dapol believes it would not be responsible to continue with the project.
