All-electric train operating company Lumo has hosted a comedy performance on one of its trains in the run-up to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Lumo, which is an open-access operator owned by FirstGroup, worked with the comedy group Felt Nowt, which is based in the North East of England, to present an exclusive preview of the group’s shows at the year’s Fringe to passengers on board the 10:15 service from London King’s Cross to Edinburgh Waverley.

Lee Kyle, one of the comedy performers from Felt Nowt, said that “A gig on a train was certainly a first for us and lots of fun.”

At this year’s Edinburgh Festival, Felt Nowt will for the first time be hosting a venue at the Fringe dedicated to showcasing the best comedy talent from the North East of England.

The venue is The Garrett at The Alchemist (George Street), which seats 25 to 30 people, and it will stage several different shows during the festival, hoping.

The train operator is based in Newcastle upon Tyne, and runs services along the East Coast Main Line which connect the city with destinations including London King’s Cross, Edinburgh Waverley, Falkirk High and Glasgow Queen Street.

It is promoting itself as a sustainable and affordable way for comedy fans to travel to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.  

Lumo regularly supports initiatives in its home city of Newcastle, recently backing an LGBT+ Pride run which set a new record for the number of participants.
