From 29th August to 31st August, journeys along the East Coast Main Line will be affected due to digital signalling tests.

Services south of Peterborough and Royston towards London will be affected, with buses operating on some journeys.

The disruption begins at 22:00 on the 29th and runs until 08:00 on the 31st.

The work will provide more reliable journeys as part of the £1.4 billion East Coast Digital Programme.

Passengers should refer to the relevant train operator website or National Rail for up-to-date information when travelling over the Bank Holiday.

Those who require step-free access are also being reminded of the ongoing lift refurbishment at London St Pancras, which impacts Thameslink platforms.

“The work taking place involves the final preparations for us to begin a gradual introduction of digital in-cab signalling on the East Coast Main Line. The ability to control trains in this way will enable a more resilient and reliable railway that is fit for the future.

“We have carefully planned this work to avoid the busiest times of the August bank holiday weekend, and where possible passengers may be able to avoid this disruption by travelling before or after Sunday 30 August.

“We’re sorry to anyone whose journey is affected and grateful to passengers for their patience and understanding.”
