British Transport Police (BTP) officers have released an image in connection with their investigation into an assault at Acton Main Line railway station.

The assault happened at around 6 pm on Sunday, 19th July, when a man in his 50s, who was passing through the barriers at the station, was tailgated by another man who shoved him so that he could push through the barriers at the same time as the older man.

After the incident at the barriers, the younger man followed the older man to a nearby shop, where the older man was slapped in the face by the younger man.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a man they believe may have information that could assist their investigation, and would like to speak to him or anyone who recognises him.

If anyone recognises the man in the CCTV image, they are asked to contact British Transport Police by text on 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 498 of 19 July. Alternatively, they can pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

British Transport Police are also investigating other assaults that took place in June in Bedfordshire and Edinburgh.
