The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway is helping families this summer with its ‘Kids go for £1’ special offer.

The offer allows up to three children to travel on the railway for just £1 each when they travel with one fare-paying adult.

In addition to the train journey, the railway offers a free activities pack, including colouring, model-making, and locomotive-inspired crafts, to keep children entertained on the glorious Cotswolds route between Cheltenham Racecourse and Broadway.

Until the end of August, there are other events where families can take advantage of the ‘Kids go for £1’ special offer, including Trainmaster Kids’ Playtime, Teddy Bear Picnic Trains, and Summer Holiday Family Fun & Crafts.

Trainmaster Kids’ Playtime will take place from Monday, 27th July to Sunday, 9th August in the Tim Mitchell Building at Winchcombe Station.

As well as unlimited train travel, the special offer provides free entry to this amazing hands-on railway-themed fun, with train sets, tracks, tunnels, and endless interactive activities.

On Thursdays 6th, 13th & 20th August, Teddy Bear Picnic Trains provide the chance to have bear-themed family fun in the peaceful surroundings of Winchcombe station, either before or after a train journey, and even better, if the children bring their teddies or any other soft toys.

Also in the Tim Mitchell Building at Winchcombe Station, Summer Holiday Family Fun & Crafts will offer plenty to keep the whole family occupied from Tuesday, 11th August to Sunday, 23rd August.

‘Kids go Free’ tickets can be booked here and are also valid for Teddy Bear Thursdays and Summer Fun and Crafts.

One of the star locomotives running on the line during August will be LMS Black 5 No. 45110, which is visiting the line for an extended visit.

Next weekend, from Friday, 24th, to Sunday, 26th, July, the railway is holding its Cotswold Diesel Gala.

“We know times are tough with many families having to draw the purse-strings tight, so we hope this will make it easier to give children a fun day out. That’s not all, we have some special days coming up just for youngsters this summer too, and the £1 youngsters’ tickets give entry to all of them!”
