American country music star Luke Combs is playing two shows at Murrayfield stadium this weekend – and ScotRail is providing more seats on its trains for fans.

The two gigs are on Friday (24 July) and Saturday (25 July) and have both sold out. The concerts are part of Combs’ ‘My Kinda Saturday Night Tour’.

Murrayfield is the home of Scottish rugby, and ScotRail is used to providing for large crowds travelling to and from the stadium for matches.

To meet demand from the large number of concert-goers, ScotRail will add carriages to its train services on key routes in and out of Edinburgh on both days, including from Aberdeen, Dundee, the Borders and Fife.

The operator is advising people attending the concert to travel to Haymarket station, from which they can take a short walk or tram ride to the stadium.

ScotRaill is also advising fans to buy their tickets for travel before they board the train, to avoid having to pay the operator’s £10 minimum fare (exemptions apply, see ScotRail website for details). Passengers can buy tickets in advance using the ScotRail app, website, ticket offices,or self-service ticket machines.

There will be queuing systems in place at Haymarket station after the concerts, which will help passengers to board trains as safely as possible. ScotRail is advising fans to go to the station and join the queue on Haymarket Terrace. Staff will direct them from there to the correct platform for their train home.

Additional ScotRail staff will be on duty throughout both days.

Passengers who normally travel to Edinburgh Waverley station and then proceed by foot or tram to Murrayfield will be redirected. This is because part of Princes Street is closed due to a recent fire. This will mean that journeys will take longer than normal.

“Trains on key routes in and out of the capital will have additional carriages and we’re asking customers to plan ahead, ensure they have their train tickets before they get on the train, and allow more time for their journey.

“Haymarket is a short walk or tram ride from the stadium and the usual queuing systems will be in place after the concerts to help everyone get home safely.”
