Northern is helping its passengers save money with a new Family Ticket.
Throughout the summer, families will be able to travel between London and Edinburgh to explore numerous places in between using both Northern and London North Eastern Railway services.
The ticket allows two adults and up to 4 children to save 77%.
Seats can be reserved on LNER services for a comfortable journey and head to 60 destinations across both networks.
The ticket has been launched in partnership with LNER and the Department for Transport to make travelling easier.
Passengers should note that the ticket needs to be booked at least three days in advance, which can be done online.
“We’re excited to be launching this new ticket ahead of the summer holidays as it makes train travel more flexible and affordable for families.
“This is yet another example of joining up the railway for the benefit of our customers and it opens up dozens of fantastic destinations in the North to families looking to enjoy a fun day out together.”

So families, who need more flexibility around timings as children are chaotic at the best of times, are offered a cheaper ticket if they can get on exactly the right train?
Sure for those with older children perhaps this will work, but for those of us with small children this is just yet another pointless saving that cannot be realised.
