Cambridge South opened on the 28th June, and since then, thousands have passed through its gates.
The station is the first fully Great British Railways branded station and was backed by £250 million of government funding.
The station is successfully delivering on its promise to provide better and greener connections.
Some of the first visitors to the station gave their thoughts on the new stations, which can be watched below:
“It is fantastic to see so many people using the new station in just the first month since it opened and I’m sure this is only just the beginning of the story for Cambridge South.
Having seen over 110,000 journeys in the first month alone demonstrates that the demand was there, waiting for us to build this new facility, and open a new gateway to this very important biomedical campus.
“It really does go to show how investment in the railway can transform people’s lives for the better, by building connectivity and providing easier ways to get to where people most need to be.”

Cambridge South station does look very impressive. Since it opened it has attracted lots of people travelling towards Addenbrooks Hospital, Papworth Hospital and the Biomedical Campus and Trumpington to the south of Cambridge City Centre.
I do think that it should have opened much earlier as Cambridge North railway station that serves the Business Park and Chesterton to the north of the city centre which opened in May 21st 2017.
And there are plans for a 4th new railway station to be built on Cambridge-Newmarket line at Cambridge East and to serve Cambridge Airport and Cambridge United FC Abbey stadium.
