All entrances to Scotland’s Glasgow Central Station will be reopened for normal passenger access within the next ten days, following a fire at an adjacent premises on Union Street.

The station was reopened on 18th March, but the entrances from Union Street and Gordon Street to Glasgow Central were closed for public safety.

They will be reopened in time for the start of the Commonwealth Games on Thursday, 23rd July, when thousands of visitors are expected to visit the city.

On Monday, 13th July, an exclusion zone around the station concourse will be removed, allowing the concourse to be fully reopened. Four days later, on Friday, 17th July, the Union Street and Gordon Street entrances to the station will also be reopened.

Ahead of the reopening, Network Rail engineers are carrying out final inspections, testing equipment, and working with retailers. Concurrent with the Gordon Street and Union Street entrances reopening on 17th July, the Carriage driveway will be closed, and the station will resume normal operations.
