In August, the Talyllyn Railway in Mid Wales is holding a Summer Beer Festival, which will offer the chance to sample real ale, listen to live music, and travel on heritage steam trains.

Taking place at Tywyn Wharf from Friday, 7th to Sunday, 9th August, the festival is free to attend and will feature some of the finest beers from Wales and Shropshire, where a carefully selected range of real ales, ciders, and gin can be enjoyed with freshly prepared food.

The bar will be open from 12 noon to 11.30 pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 12 noon to 9 pm, or until the beer runs out, on Sunday.

Between 5 pm and 9 pm on Friday and Saturday, King’s Café will be open for evening meals, with a Fish and Chip Night on Friday and a summer barbecue on Saturday.

On Saturday evening from around 6.30 pm, live performances from The Sunshine Band and Totaleigh Music will create a special festival atmosphere.

As well as enjoying the festival at Tywyn Wharf, visitors are being encouraged to use the occasion to make the most of their visit with a Talyllyn Explorer Day Rover, which will provide them with unlimited travel on the historic steam railway through the beautiful Fathew Valley to Abergynolwyn throughout the day.

Because of the heatwave, the Talyllyn Railway has implemented special measures to keep running, with trains carrying fire beaters and emergency water supplies. In February, the railway announced it had received several grants totalling £500,000 towards a major redevelopment programme.
