Following an assault on railway staff assault at a railway station in East London, British Transport Police have released images of a woman who is the suspected assailant.

The assault took place just before 5 pm on Friday, 22nd May at Ilford railway station, when a woman passed through the station’s ticket barriers without paying. Railway staff intervened and challenged the woman for her actions, and she responded by spitting in the face of the railway staff involved. Fleeing the scene, the woman quickly left the station.

British Transport Police Officers believe the woman in the images can provide information that may help them with their ongoing investigation. They are asking that if anyone recognises the woman in the images, they should contact her is asked to contact British Transport Police by text on 61016, or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting the reference number 530 of 22 May.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

British Transport Police has also released images in connection with an assault on 3rd June on a train to Luton Airport Parkway in Bedfordshire, and on 11th April on a ScotRail service from Edinburgh Waverley to Cowdenbeath.
