The introduction into service of more NextGen Acela trains has allowed Amtrak to increase the number of services they operate with them in the northeastern USA.

Thirteen of the NextGen Acela trains are now in service, providing sufficient stock for Amtrak to operate them on 32 services each weekday, giving passengers more opportunities to travel on them.

The first NextGen Acela trains started service in August 2025, connecting Washington DC, New York, Boston, and intermediate locations.

Before the introduction of the new trains, Amtrak operated 26 services each weekday with Acelas.

As more new trains come on stream and enter service, passengers will benefit from more capacity and greater flexibility when planning their journeys.

The expanded timetable is indicative of the growing demand for fast and reliable train services in the Northeast Corridor and marks another step forward in Amtrak’s New Era of Rail.

To promote new next-generation Acela trains, Amtrak has launched two new TV advertisements that highlight the new trains’ speed, premium amenities, and smooth ride.

Amtrak has also introduced a new menu for First Class passengers on Acela train services.
