A transformational project has been announced by the London Transport Museum.

They announced the project yesterday, which will see the museum reimagined and modernised.

The museum has continuously grown since it opened in Covent Garden in 1980, with its highest annual visitors recorded last year (450,000 visitors, 1.7 million visits to the site).

The Grade II listed building will have a new entrance which will open directly onto Covent Garden Piazza, with 500 square metres for galleries and learning experiences.

The museum will be upgraded with the new experiences and facilities ahead of a major relaunch for its anniversary in 2030.

As we approach our 50th anniversary, we’re creating an experience that captures the energy, creativity and optimism of London itself – while opening the doors to even more people.’
