Passengers travelling on the North Wales Coast Line are being advised to plan ahead of travel, as engineering work will close the railway between Chester and Llandudno Junction over the weekend of 6-8 June.

The route will shut from the early hours of Saturday, 6 June, until the early hours of Monday, 8 June, allowing railway teams uninterrupted access to carry out maintenance and upgrade projects linked to ongoing investment in the North Wales network and the introduction of a recently enhanced timetable.

Work at Flint will focus on improving drainage systems to help reduce the risk of flooding and strengthen the railway’s long-term resilience.

At Pensarn, preparations will continue for a new accessible footbridge, with foundation and site works scheduled during the closure. Meanwhile, at Rhyl, sleeper replacement work will take place on Saturday night to help maintain track quality and support reliable train performance.

No services will run between Chester and Llandudno Junction while the line is closed, with replacement buses provided for passengers to minimise disruption to journeys.

As no trains will run between these destinations, our Manchester Airport, Cardiff Central, and Liverpool Lime Street services will start and terminate at Chester, while services from Holyhead will terminate at Llandudno Junction.”
