A new contract has been signed between The National Railway Museum and Graham Construction Ltd.
The contract is for the construction work on the building of Central Hall.
The building will provide level access for the first time and feature a gallery space, shop, cafe and toilets.
The project received £3 million in funding earlier this month and forms part of the wider York Central partnership.
The construction work will be underway soon and will be completed over the next two years.
“Central Hall is more than a new building—it is a bold, future-facing statement that embodies the Railway Museum’s commitment to being ‘Open for All’ and sets a new sustainability benchmark for the site. I cannot wait to see this landmark new space emerge from the ground as we begin our next chapter as the worlds gateway to the past, present and future of railways.”
Craig Bentley, Director of the National Railway Museum
