London Northwestern Railway is celebrating the millions of journeys made aboard its Class 730/2 fleet during its first year in passenger service, marking a milestone for one of Britain’s newest train fleets.
The electric trains entered service on 9 June 2025 and have since become a key part of services to and from London Euston. Built in the UK by Alstom, the fleet comprises 36 five-car units, providing 180 carriages and increasing capacity on London Northwestern Railway’s Euston routes by around 20%.
The fleet’s introduction has coincided with higher passenger satisfaction levels. Satisfaction with Trent Valley Line services has risen by 20%, while services between Northampton and Euston have seen a 10% increase, with passengers praising spacious interiors.
The completed rollout also enabled London Northwestern Railway to expand capacity as part of the national timetable change introduced in May. The operator said an additional 42,000 seats are now available each week on services to and from Euston.
To mark the anniversary, London Northwestern Railway will be offering thousands of half-price tickets booked through its app before 21 June for travel up to 31 July.

The Class 730/2 that have replaced the Class 350/2 and Class 319 are the best commuter trains used on the West Coast main line.
That London Northwestern Railway are using them on the London Euston to Tring, Northampton, Milton Keynes Central, Birmingham New Street, Liverpool Lime Street, Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent routes.
