Over the summer months, upgrades are set to improve journeys between London and South Wales.

Both Network Rail and Great Western Railway are investing in upgrades to make the route more reliable.

The upcoming upgrades are set to impact journey times and frequency of services between Swindon and Bristol Parkway.

Track will be replaced, and work will be carried out at the Chipping Sidbury Tunnel.

Passengers are urged to plan ahead of the work taking place between 6th July and 2nd August, and again on the 8th and 9th August.

Some services will be diverted, run less often, altered stopping patterns, with some parts of the route having more services.

“This is an important investment in the future of the route, and we want customers to feel the benefit of it for years to come.

“We know longer, less frequent journeys are an inconvenience in the short term, so we’re doing everything we can to help, including extra services to and from Swindon and we’d encourage everyone travelling this summer to plan ahead and check before they go.

“Trains will continue to run throughout the work, and our teams will be on hand to help customers complete their journeys.”
