The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway (RHDR) in Kent has had solar panels installed by Bloom Renewables.

The solar panels will help the railway reduce running costs without losing any of the character and charm.

around 110,000 kWh of electricity can be generated by the panels, equating to around a saving of up to £18,000 each year.

Not only does it reduce costs for the railway, but it will also make them more sustainable through the reduction of carbon emissions by around 50 tonnes each year.

The panels are located on the two engine sheds, cafe and exhibition hall at New Romney and the restaurant at Dungeness.
