Govia Thameslink Railway, now Greater Thameslink Railway (since transferring to public ownership), has improved passenger experience through cleaner trains.

The operator has planned a makeover of its train fleet, with £3.6 million being invested.

They will be polishing exteriors, installing new interior wall vinyls and repainting toilets.

During the improvements, each area will be deep-cleaned at the Sussex depot – Three Bridges.

The project is being funded by both the Department for Transport and Greater Thameslink Railway, and is being delivered in partnership with Siemens.

“These improvements show how passengers are being prioritised under public ownership and, as we move towards Great British Railways, making sure that travelling by train is a comfortable and positive experience.

“This refresh on Thameslink services is just the start. Under public ownership, passengers not shareholders will be prioritised to deliver a safer, cleaner and more reliable railway.”
