A homelessness charity in London is launching a new wellbeing programme near several railway stations after receiving funding from train operators Thameslink, Southern and Great Northern.
Single Homeless Project has been awarded support through Govia Thameslink Railway’s (GTR) £300,000 Your Station, Your Community fund to deliver Mind In Motion, a scheme offering more than 30 accessible physical activity sessions from accommodation services near Finsbury Park, Herne Hill, and Crofton Park stations.
The initiative is designed to improve physical and mental wellbeing while helping participants move towards education, training and employment opportunities. The charity hopes the programme will support people in rebuilding confidence and achieving greater independence.

Adults with complex needs will take part in cycling and multisport activities, followed by facilitated wellbeing discussions.
Women living in women-only accommodation will be offered guided walks and yoga sessions tailored to their needs. A third strand will focus on 16 to 25-year-olds, mixing cycling activities with bike-maintenance training to develop practical skills and routes into further education, training, and employment.
Mind In Motion forms part of Govia Thameslink Railway’s wider community investment programme, which is supporting projects across the rail operator’s network. The charity says the scheme will help tackle social isolation, strengthen wellbeing, and encourage positive engagement through physical activity and shared experiences.
“We are excited to support our clients to access parks and local spaces thanks to this grant from Thameslink.
“Sport and physical activity are a positive way to engage with our clients, supporting them to access open green spaces, connecting people and reducing periods of isolation.”
Gareth Jones, Sports Manager at Single Homeless Project.
