Work is set to get underway next month on a railway bridge in Glasgow.

£900,000 is being invested in the bridge at Pollokshaws Road by Network Rail.

Engineers will be making repairs and repainting the bridge, as well as removing vegetation and improving drainage.

The work will begin on the 13th July and is due to be completed by September 2026.

Some temporary changes will occur to both rail and road in August.

There will be two planned rail closures on the 8th and 9th, and from the 15th to the 17th of August. Services between Glasgow Central and destinations such as Cathcart, Maxwell Park, Neilston and Newton.

Temporary traffic lights will also be in place on the nearby junction at Nithsdale Street and Allison Street.

Replacement buses will be in place, and customers should check online before they travel.

“This investment will help ensure Pollokshaws Road bridge remains safe and fit for the future, supporting reliable journeys for passengers and road users alike.

“We appreciate that some disruption is unavoidable, and we’d like to thank the community in advance for their patience while we carry out these essential improvements.”

Lesley Percy, scheme project manager at Network Rail Scotland
