Better Transport Week 2026, which celebrates the benefits of public transport, shared transport, walking, wheeling, and cycling, is being supported by GBR Anglia.
This is an annual campaign, and this year runs from Monday, 15th to Sunday, 21st June. It aims to show that better transport can connect people and places, making it easier for them to access jobs, education, healthcare, leisure, and local services.

Currently, five new stations have opened across the region since 2017, including Cambridge North, Meridian Water, Soham, Beaulieu Park, and Barking Riverside, which was a Transport for London project but in which Network Rail Anglia delivered the railway infrastructure and assets.
Another new station, Cambridge South, is due to open on Sunday, 28th June. This will provide improved access to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and nearby communities, and has been designed for sustainability, with approximately 400 solar panels on the roof and platform canopies.
As well as major infrastructure projects, rail travel has been made easier and more accessible with more cycle parking at stations, and better information about local transport connections so that passengers can decide to complete more of their journeys by public transport, walking, or cycling.

The leadership team at GBR Anglia, operating as c2c, Greater Anglia, and Network Rail Anglia, has now been combined so that the track and the trains operate under a unified structure. As well as improving planning, it will also improve day-to-day coordination and decision-making between operators and the infrastructure.
“We are very pleased to support Better Transport Week, which celebrates the role public transport plays in connecting people and places. Cambridge South is the latest milestone in a decade of investment across the region. As c2c, Greater Anglia and Network Rail Anglia come together as GBR Anglia, we are focused on making rail travel easier, more accessible and more sustainable as we move towards Great British Railways.”
