The latest Add-on for Train Sim World 6 has been announced by Dovetail Games as the West Coast Main Line: Crewe – Preston.

Developed by Just Trains, it follows on from the West Coast Main Line: Preston – Carlisle and Blackpool Branches: Preston – Blackpool & Ormskirk add-ons.

This latest Add-on covers 60 miles of the West Coast Main Line with both electric and diesel traction, and reproduces accurate 1980s signage and stations.

The route is set in 1986 on one of the UK’s busiest rail corridors, with yards, depots, carriage sidings, and the famous Crewe Works at its starting point of Crewe.

Heading north through Warrington and Wigan to Preston, the line is served by dedicated freight branches serving Haydock Park, Fiddler’s Ferry power station, and Bickershaw and Deepdale Collieries.

Motive power includes Class 86/4 electrics, Class 20 and Class 47/3 diesels, and a Class 08 diesel shunter.

Among the features are four-track running on key sections, traction maintenance depots (TMDs) at Crewe and Springs Branch in Wigan, and freight loops and now-vanished marshalling yards. Light engine movements are interspersed with merry-round (MGR) coal trains, Speedlink freight, and high-speed express trains.

Of interest en route is Dutton Viaduct, the girder bridge at Acton Grange, which spans the Manchester Ship Canal, and the remodelled station at Crewe, through which trains could pass at up to 60 mph.

Train Sim World 6: West Coast Main Line Crewe – Preston will be released next Thursday, 18th June, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam, and will cost £29.99.

As well as UK routes, Dovetail Games has recently announced other routes in Europe, including the long-awaited Frankenbahn: Stuttgart – Heilbronn Add-on in Germany, and the Liberec – Stará-Paka route in Czechia, which represents part of a single-track line between the regional capital city Liberec and the conurbation of Hradec Králové and Pardubice in Eastern Bohemia.
