Dapol is celebrating the part that logos have played in the company’s history, and is reproducing a selection of them on collectable model wagons.

For over 40 years, Dapol has been manufacturing model railway products at Chirk in North Wales, and in that time, the company logo has undergone various iterations. Some of the logos were only used on railway products; other products manufactured since the company was founded in 1983 sometimes featured different types. Enthusiasts and collectors who have purchased products from Dapol during this time will have become familiar with the different logos seen on its catalogues, packaging, and products.

Sometimes a single logo was used in isolation, and at other times, two or more appeared alongside each other, with their use overlapping date ranges. To celebrate the evolution of Dapol’s different logos, it is releasing a series of collectable model wagons in N, OO, and O Gauges featuring the various patterns.

N Gauge wagons

N Gauge wagons will comprise seven-plank wagons with logos that represent the current 2026 logo, the 2002-2011 logo, and a Collectors Club logo. Each version will be available in pristine or weathered condition, and will cost £11.15 (pristine) and £12.38 (weathered).

OO Gauge wagons

OO Gauge wagons will comprise Ventilated Vans with logos that represent the Kitmaster logo, the current 2026 logo, the 1988-2011logo, the 2002-2011 logo, and a Collectors Club logo. Each version will be available in pristine or weathered condition, and will cost £13.43 (pristine) and £14.67 (weathered).

O Gauge wagons

O Gauge wagons will comprise two-door, seven-plank wagons with a 9-foot wheelbase, with logos that represent the Kitmaster logo, the current 2026 logo, the Lionheart Trains, and a Collectors Club logo. Each version will be available in pristine or weathered condition, and will cost £52.75 (pristine) and £54.75 (weathered).

Decorated samples have been delivered to Dapol, which is currently reviewing them, ready to go on sale in August 2026.

In May, the company announced a range of new N, OO, and O Gauge wagons that will be on sale in July, new OO Gauge models of Great Western Railway (GWR) 2884 Class 2-8-0 steam locomotives, which will be on sale later this year.
