Since opening in May 2025, a mental health support hub at Wolverhampton Railway Station has helped more than 2,000 people, including dozens in crisis.

Known as ‘The Hub,’ the site is operated by West Midlands Railway in partnership with Rethink Mental Illness, which provides staffing, one-to-one support, information, and signposting.

Beyond its day-to-day services, The Hub offers local organisations space for pop-ups and events.

To mark its first anniversary, Rethink Mental Illness has held a series of pop-ups during Mental Health Awareness Week (11–17 May).

These events are hosted in collaboration with charities including The Haven, Good Shepherd, Ark Training (Talking Therapy Well), Recovery Near You, and SUIT, highlighting ongoing efforts to support vulnerable passengers and the wider community.

“It’s wonderful to see, read and hear about the community connectivity that The Hub is championing. This week it’s supporting Mental Health awareness and it continues to grow from strength to strength. Mental ill health is often a taboo subject, but The Hub is challenging that. It’s in the heart of our city and its accessibility and vibrancy shines through.”

Carolyn Green, chief nurse for Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
