Wensleydale Railway is set to host its annual Diesel Gala over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend, from Saturday, 23 May to Monday, 25 May, at Leeming Bar Station.
A special timetable will see services running along the length of the railway, offering plenty of opportunities for passengers to explore the line throughout the day.
A highlight for this year’s event is visiting Class 37 37421, joining from Colas Rail Freight, alongside the railway’s own Class 37 37250, Class 47 47714, and the Class 121 bubble car 55032.

Catering will be on offer at Leeming Bar in the static buffet car, offering hot and cold drinks, snacks, sandwiches, and souvenirs, alongside draft and bottled craft beers supplied by The Engine Shed Brewery.
Leyburn Station’s tearoom will serve refreshments, confectionery, and the renowned cakes baked by volunteer Mandy, while the gift shop provides a range of railway books, memorabilia, and keepsakes.
RailAdvent Plus Gold members can get 15% off tickets bought online via their website or in-person at the ticket office.
Enthusiasts and families can opt for an all-day ‘Ranger’ ticket costing £25, allowing unlimited travel across the line with the flexibility to hop on and off at each station.
Standard return and single fares are also available, while children aged 3 to 15 travel for just £1 with a paying adult, making it an accessible family outing. Tickets can be purchased online via their website or on the day from station ticket offices.
“Our annual diesel gala is a great opportunity for us to operate a special timetable and showcase some of our heritage diesel
locomotives, and stunning scenery, to the public. 3 of our home diesel fleet will take part in this event, along with a visiting guest locomotive, number 37421. We are very grateful to our friends at Colas Rail for allowing the use of their locomotive.”
Nick Keegan, Marketing and Fundraising Manager at Wensleydale Railway.
