Upgrades have been ongoing across Bedfordshire to improve the line’s reliability.
Recent engineering work was carried out over the weekend (9th and 10th May) as part of a series of weekend works.
St Albans had 300 metres of new track installed to make journeys smoother, and Radlett had drainage upgrades to prevent flooding.
New points were also installed at Radlett Strategic Freight Interchange to ensure trains can switch between lines safely.

The Access for All project at Luton also continued to allow lifts to be installed.
Two weekends of work are still to be completed between Bedford and London, which will take place between the 20th and 21st June and the 27th and 28th June.
Passengers should check their journeys ahead of time, which can be done with the relevant operator or via National Rail.
“This was another successful weekend in a series of vital upgrades to make the railway for the East Midlands more resilient and reliable. The work was completed safely and on schedule, allowing trains to resume as planned from the start of Monday services.
“We’re sorry for the disruption over the weekend and would like to thank passengers for their patience and understanding while this vital work was carried out.”

Network Rail needs to replace ageing overhead wires in East London between Barking-Fenchurch Street via Limehouse and to finish off replacing overhead wires on the Southend Victoria line between Prittlewell-Southend Victoria. And to replace old overhead wires on the former Woodhead line between Manchester Piccadilly-Gosslop and Hadfield and to electrify the Anniesland line from Glasgow Queen St-Anniesland.
