Peak Rail, with the Cromford Steam Railway Society, is set to host its fourth annual Rail and Road: Steam and Vintage Gala, on 30 and 31 May 2026.
Taking place at Rowsley South, the site of the original Rowsley Steam Depot, visitors can enjoy steam and plant working demonstrations, along with children’s fairground rides, trade stalls, and refreshments throughout the weekend.
The event will also feature a wide range of steam-powered vehicles, both large and miniature, alongside vintage cars, motorbikes, tractors, stationary engines, commercial lorries, emergency services vehicles, and military displays.
Freight and passenger steam trains will be operating across the picturesque 4.5-mile line from Rowsley South to Matlock Platform 2.

Peak Rail is also offering turntable demonstrations, open access to Rowsley South Junction Signal Box, a WW1 trench display, and shed tours at 10 am and 2 pm. The popular ‘Driver for a Fiver’ experience will also offer guests the opportunity to operate a diesel shunter along a dedicated track (age restrictions apply).
Rowsley South Tea Rooms will serve hot and cold food, while The Goods Shed gift shop offers souvenirs and second-hand books. A bar will open daily from 10 am, with live music from The Lumps on Saturday from 7:30 pm.
Entry is £10, with train rides also £10, and children go free. No pre-booking is required; tickets are available on the day.
