Northern has launched a flash sale of 15,000 discounted tickets to mark the 150th anniversary of the Settle to Carlisle line.
Single journeys between Leeds, Settle and Carlisle will cost £1.50, valid for travel from 22 May to 17 July, with bookings required at least seven days in advance.
Tickets are available online via their website, at station ticket offices, and via vending machines.
The route is renowned for its dramatic scenery, crossing the Pennine hills, Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria’s Eden Valley, including the iconic Ribblehead Viaduct.

To mark the milestone, Northern unveiled a train named ‘Settle & Carlisle 150’ at Leeds station, while the Settle Carlisle Railway Development Company will run a chartered steam service between Carlisle and York on 25 May, alongside a year of celebratory events.
“The Settle to Carlisle Railway is famous around the world for its spectacular scenery and community engagement. We want as many people as possible to share in the experience of this wonderful line, which is why we’re offering everyone the chance to travel for just £1.50 during the 150th anniversary year.
“They can enjoy a journey through some of the country’s most stunning landscapes before they get off to explore the breathtaking countryside and delightful towns and villages along the way.”
Alex Hornby, Northern’s Commercial and Customer Director.

IMPOSSIBLE to get into site to buy £1.50 tickets
It’s a shame that most of the £1.50 tickets are for the afternoon departures from Leeds, which is no good if you want a day out!
