Sadly, a person has been hit by a train between Hitchin and Welwyn Garden City and means that all lines have been closed.
Trains between Peterborough / Royston and London may be cancelled or severely delayed.
Major disruption is expected until around 14:30 today (20th May 2026).
A number of operators have ticket acceptance in place with other operators, with the likes of LNER, Grand Central and Hull Trains all having mutual ticket acceptance.
Lumo says that ticket acceptance will be in place with London North Eastern Railway once the line reopens.
Thameslink says that it will take around 60 minutes longer to complete journeys, with ticket acceptance in place with all Thameslink services, all Great Northern services, CrossCountry, Greater Anglia and London Underground.

Strange world that LNER start accepting tickets from LUMO customers ? LNER is in effect “State Railways” and LUMO is an Open Operator who compets with LNER for customers so is in effect a revenue extractor from the state owned operator. Surely it would of been more appropriate for LNER to have sold Lumo tickets for their customers or Lumo customers just waited for the next Lumo service.
