Bachmann Europe has announced it is to stop the development of the Kinesis DCC System and all associated Kinesis products.
The decision to stop their development followed a business review, and as well as ceasing the development of Kinesis products, from Tuesday, 30th June, technical support for the Bachmann RailController Computer Control Software will not be available.
In line with the decision, that means the following products will no longer be available:
- 36-530 – Kinesis Wireless DCC System Starter Pack.
- 36-531 – Kinesis Edge Wireless DCC Handset.
- 36-532 – Kinesis Hub DCC Base Station.
- 36-533 – Kinesis Edge Rapid Charging Cradle.
- 36-534 – Kinesis Edge Armour Case & Lanyard.
- 30-505DC – Eastern Express DIGITAL Train Set.
- 30.5065F – Suburban Sulzer SOUND Fitted Train Set.
A wide range of advanced DCC systems fully compatible with Bachmann products is available from other companies, such as ESU and Zimo. The termination of support for Kinesis products will enable Bachmann to concentrate its efforts on developing more award-winning models across its UK and Continental ranges.
Many of the DCC features and functionality that are now considered standard in ready-to-run models were pioneered by Bachmann Europe.
The latest technological innovations will continue to be incorporated in new designs for the UK and European markets, as well as new DCC-operated features, such as the Bachmann Auto-Release Coupling System.
Bachmann Europe reached its decision by considering that the needs of railway modellers can be better fulfilled by companies specialising in model railway control systems. Those companies are better placed to develop existing and new DCC systems that will interface seamlessly with controlling advanced features in new Bachmann models.
Earlier this month, Bachmann Europe announced the range of new models it has lined up for release later this year.
