Bachmann Europe plc has today (Wednesday, 6 May 2026) unveiled its latest plans for British
Railways models.
Its Summer 2026 range will see new tooling for both N and OO scale. The N scale models are from Bachmann’s Graham Farish brand, and the OO scale models are in the company’s flagship Bachmann Branchline portfolio.
In March, Bachmann announced new tooling options for its Class 20/0 diesel locomotives, together with upgrades to enable sound fitting. This will enable the models to be manufactured in N scale.

Class 20 locos designed for use in Scotland had large cab side windows and bodyside recesses, which will be incorporated in the model. In addition, a new chassis incorporating a Next18 DCC decoder socket and pre-fitted speaker will allow the company to offer sound-fitted models. Bachmann promises to roll out across its existing range of Graham Farish Class 20/0s for future production.
This Summer, Bachmann will also add a selection of Graham Farish freight stock to its range of Class 20s. This will include Conflat wagons with ‘Birds Eye’ branded containers, four new versions of the
BR 12 Ton ventilated vans, and HTA coal hopper wagons for the modern scene.
Summer will also see new OO scale Bachmann Branchline Class 170 and 171 models. It announced these Turbostar DMUs last month, and has now confirmed that the first releases will cover the Class 170s as they entered service with Midland Mainline through to their current operation with East Midlands Railway, Cross Country. A two-car Class 171 will be the first model of Southern’s Turbostars.

Bachmann is also bringing back three popular classes of steam train to its Branchline range. New versions of the Peppercorn A1 and A2 Class Pacifics, plus Ivatt’s Mogul ‘Mickey Mouse’ 2MT 2-6-0s, will join the company’s range of models this Summer.
The A1 will depict new-build No. 60163 ‘Tornado’ in Apple Green, and the Moguls will be three preserved locos, including No. 46521 in BR Lined Green livery. This is how the locomotive appeared when it played ‘Blossom’ in the BBC sitcom ‘Oh Doctor Beeching!’ more than 30 years ago.
New freight rolling stock for OO scale includes the BR plywood ventilated vans and LNER fruit vans. PCA ‘Metalair’ bulk power wagons are also being added to the Branchline range.
