Ahead of upcoming engineering works, passengers are being reminded of service alterations between Huddersfield and Leeds.
As part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU), 6.2km of track will be renewed, along with 21,000 tonnes of ballast, and 51 foundation bases will be installed to allow for future overhead line equipment.
The work is being carried out from the 2nd May until the 25th May, which will see 56 engineering trains deployed to carry out the work.
During the work, Brighouse station will act as a rail and bus interchange to keep passengers moving.
After this series of work is completed, a second phase will run from the 30th May until the 27th June between Batley and Dewsbury.
This will allow Batley station to reopen with step-free access and improved facilities, and Dewsbury station to have its platforms extended.
Trains will be diverted through both series of work, or replacement buses will be in place. Full details on journey alterations can be found online.
“The Transpennine Route Upgrade continues to make lots of progress between Huddersfield and Leeds, delivering a once in a generation upgrade for our customers. We’ve already seen key milestones delivered such as a brand-new station at Morley and a remodelled, fully accessible, station at Mirfield.
“Throughout May and June, more work will take place between Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Leeds, which will mean changes to services. We’ve worked collaboratively with colleagues at TransPennine Express to plan for these works and limit disruption for customers. We advise everyone planning to travel in May and June to check beforehand at nationalrail.co.uk, as amended timetables will be in operation, including rail replacement buses for some routes.”
