The Severn Valley Railway is gearing up for a big celebration of all things miniature with its Model Railway Weekend on 2 to 3 May.

Hosted at The Engine House Visitor Centre, the event offers visitors a unique two-part experience. The journey begins with a ride aboard a full-size heritage train to Highley station, setting the scene before stepping into a world of finely crafted model railways.

Around 30 layouts will be on display, showcasing detail across a variety of scales, from O Gauge and OO Gauge, to N Gauge and even smaller creations.

The exhibition promises a fascinating glimpse into the precision and creativity behind these tiny masterpieces.

Entry to the Model Railway Weekend is included with standard travel tickets, making it an ideal day out that blends heritage rail travel with hands-on discovery.

“The Model Railway Weekend is always a highlight in our events calendar. It’s a fantastic opportunity for visitors to experience the charm and creativity of model railways alongside a journey on our full-size heritage line. Whether you’re a lifelong enthusiast or discovering the hobby for the first time, there’s something here to inspire everyone.”

Lewis Maddox, visitor engagement manager at the Severn Valley Railway.
