A luxury rail trip to Edinburgh aboard the Northern Belle has been postponed by two months due to engineering work on the East Coast Main Line over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
With a fresh partnership with Moët & Chandon, the train was recently ranked among the world’s best by Condé Nast Traveller and praised by Bill Nighy as “the Grand Dame of luxury travel”.
Passengers had paid more than £400 for the 1930s-style Pullman journey on 2 May 2026, but no trains will run north of York while Network Rail carries out maintenance.

The service is now scheduled for 4 July, with passengers already booked to travel being notified of the changes to service.
“We tried to find ways of diverting the train across country and along the Settle to Carlisle line, but that would have meant we couldn’t pick up passengers at two of our planned departure stations.
“So in the end we had no choice but to cancel the planned date and reschedule the trip for July. However, we are confident that it will still turn out to be an unforgettable day for our loyal passengers.”
