Major disruption to trains at Manchester Piccadilly is set to continue throughout the day today (17th April).
On the 16th April, damage to the overhead wires caused lines on the approach to the station to be closed.
Whilst some lines have reopened today, major disruption is still to be expected until at least the end of service.
Avanti West Coast services are not calling at Manchester Piccadilly, with ticket acceptance in place with CrossCountry, London Northwestern Railway, Metrolink, Northern, TransPennine Express and Transport for Wales.
CrossCountry have similar arrangements in place, but please check with the operator for up to date information.
Northern says that a number of routes will see cancellations so please check for the latest advice.
The latest travel advice can be found at National Rail Enquiries.

I pitied the poor commuters as I watched the chaos unfold from my office in Manchester. But with a bit of thought and a few blind eyes turned by very helpful staff of the ground (Thanks Altrincham), a combination of trams and a few rural trains got me back on track. I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening rambling the backways of Cheshire to Crewe and then home.
