Dovetail Games is inviting players to “get ready to celebrate the 200 year history of modern railways”, as it releases its GWR HST Farewell Pack Add-on on Thursday (16 April).
Dovetail promises that the add-on brings all-new gameplay, with players operating the iconic HST power cars on the Great Western Express Remastered and Riviera Line routes.
The HST Farewell Tour Add-on is a tribute to the HST’s final years in service with GWR. The final Class 43 HST ran in May 2019.
The HST Farewell Tour Add-on includes new timetable services and scenarios which the company describes as “thrilling”.
These include HST power cars sporting seven designs that were used by the GWR HSTs. It also includes two Mk1 HST Barrier Coach designs.

The power car designs within the pack are:
- Class 43 power car 43002 ‘Sir Kenneth Grange’, nicknamed ‘The Flying Banana’, in BR Blue and Yellow with nameplate
- Class 43 power car 43093 ‘Old Oak Common’, in GWR Green with OOC vinyl and nameplate
- Class 43 power car 43185 ‘Great Western’, in InterCity Swallow with nameplate
- Class 43 power car 43187 and 43188 ‘Welshman’, in GWR Green with white dragon vinyl
- Class 43 power car 43188 ‘Welshman’ (GWR Green with yellow dragon vinyl)
- Class 43 power cars in GWR Green with vinyl ‘GWR’ logo
- Class 43 power cars in GWR Green unbranded.
The Mk1 HST Barrier Coach will be available in both blue and green liveries. The coach features buckeye and hook coupler types, which enable players to carry out stock moves between the HSTs and a range of stock in Train Sim World.
Players will also be able to place end-of-train lamps on the Class 43s, Mk3 coaches and barrier coaches by hand.
All six of the pack’s scenarios are inspired by real-world events. These include helping crowds of passengers from Dawlish get to the air show, the first passenger run of ‘43002’ in BR Blue, the unveiling of ‘43093’ at the Old Oak Common depot open day, and HST’s final runs out of Paddington.
Dovetail has made the scenarios as authentic as possible, including in small details such as weather patterns. The scenarios use exact unit numbers where possible.

All seven power cars will substitute into any existing GWR HST service across Train Sim World 6, whether this is driven by the player or by AI.
The add-on includes unique services for both the Great Western Express Remaster and Riviera Line routes. These use the power cars and the Mk1 HST Barrier Coaches, which gives players the chance to use the new stock to drive empty stock moves.
Train Sim World 6: GWR HST Farewell Pack will be available from Thursday for Xbox One, Series X|S, PlayStation 4 & 5, Epic Games Store, and Steam for £12.99/€15.99/$16.99.
It will be showcased ahead of its release, on both YouTube and Twitch at 18:00 UTC (19:00 BST) today (Tuesday 14 April).
