British Transport Police renew West Sussex bike theft appeal

Following the theft of three bicycles at stations in West Sussex, British Transport Police (BTP) have issued a renewed appeal. Officers believe the same individual is connected to several thefts.

At Haywards Heath station, a black Trek bike – which had been secured by the owner at approximately 10 am – was stolen from a cycle rack. The theft, valued at £550, took place on Thursday, 5 March.

At Hassocks station, a Trek mountain bike with an estimated value of £1,000 was secured at around 9 am and discovered missing at 1 pm, was stolen. The bike is described as having a black frame, beige or brown tyre rims, and purple detailing. The theft took place on Thursday, 3 March.

A Vitus bike, estimated to be worth around £800, was stolen in February, suspected to be related to these thefts.

British Transport Police are urging anyone who recognises the man in the released images, or who has relevant information, to text 61016 or call 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 2600028231.
