In January, a hate crime occurred on board a train from Derby, which British Transport Police have been investigating.

They have now released images in connection with the incident, which could help their investigation.

On the 30th January, on the 6:38 pm service from Derbu to Cardiff Central, a man approached a young man and woman.

He slammed his bag onto the table and sat on the young man’s bag. When asked not to sit on his bag, the man began verbally and racially abusing the young man before leaving the train at Burton-on-Trent.

Officers hope that releasing these images will prompt someone who recognises the man pictured to come forward with any information and aid their investigation.

People are urged to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 with the reference 663 of 30 January, or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
