In the recent Visit Worcestershire 2025/26 Awards, the Severn Valley Railway were recognised for its resilience.

The award was created to highlight adaptability, commitment and strength during difficult times, and still delivering great visitor experiences.

The railway was commended for its efforts in the face of adversity and its passion to keep providing experiences.

“We’re absolutely delighted to receive this award, and it came as a real surprise on the night. It’s a hugely appreciated recognition of the grit and determination shown by our staff and volunteers, who have helped the Severn Valley Railway through some incredibly challenging times in recent years.

“From the lasting impact of the Covid-19 pandemic to rising operating costs, and the devastating landslip that closed the northern section of our line for six months last year, it has not been an easy journey. But throughout it all, we’ve kept going, driven by our passion for this remarkable heritage railway and the joy it brings to so many people.

“This award belongs to everyone who has supported the SVR and who believes in what we do.”

Lewis Maddox, visitor engagement manager at the SVR, who accepted the award at a ceremony held at the Three Counties Showground
