UPDATE: Trains have now returned to normal

Trespassers on the railway near Preston station mean all lines are currently blocked, with trains suspended.

Trains may be cancelled, delayed by 60 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected until 3pm.

Staff are on site and updates will follow soon.

Northern says a number of their services are affected by the trespass incident, including:

  • Preston to Ormskirk
  • Preston to Blackpool South
  • Blackpool North to York
  • Blackpool North to Manchester Airport
  • Blackpool North to Liverpool Lime Street
  • Preston to Colne

Ticket acceptance is in place with Merseyrail and Blackpool Transport.

TransPennine Express say that passengers can travel via York and also on London North Eastern Railway to Edinburgh.
